3 Weeks and COUNTING!

Posted By Stacy on December 20, 2010

Well we may not live in the north country, but this past three weeks has been a blizzard of excitement, sleep…or lack thereof, and learning!  We must be doing something right because so far Wyatt has been a pretty easy baby.  Eat…Poop…Sleep…Eat…Poop…Poop some more…wait til Dad get’s the diaper off…poop a little more…sleep…eat…and POOP AGAIN!  Man this kid has some bowels.  I can already see the disciplinarian phrase of, “I wiped your little butt when you were a kid, now show some respect!”  Well I hope I don’t have to use that one any time soon because how could you yell at this little guy?

Napping with Charlie!

Just chillin!

Mom has already learned to change diapers, talk on the phone, text, fold towels, and do her hair simultaneously, while I still get the diaper off and then start yelling in a frenzy, “Stacy, where are the diapers?  HURRY he’s peeing?”  Now, if we can only get Stacy to spell her texts right and me to think ahead a little bit we’ll be making process.  I swear I’m going to get the hang of this someday.  It is funny how much better women are at this whole process. They are just so logical it’s amazing!

The more he grows the more we are seeing Stacy’s eyes and ears and my lips and nose, or so is the consensus among visitors and facebook comments. Speaking of visitors, little Jay Squillante stopped by for a visit.

Jay and Wyatt

Check out the size difference in a 3 and 1/2 month old and a 3 week old, man they grow fast.  As I look at this picture, floods of memories come back from 8th grade until now.  We had a lot to learn to get to where we are today, but here we are.

Proud Dads

Now…the key is going to be getting these two little one’s brought up to where they know nothing of what their dads were capable of.  It’s been a pretty good ride Ant, never thought I’d see this day!  I think these two need to start catching up…

David and Natalie

Well, so is our life now.  Stacy is loving every minute of mommyhood and spending it doing what she does best!

Naptime

This is pretty much what I get to look at every Saturday, and it is ‘A’ OK with me, I love them all!

I thought that was going to be the end of this post, but I couldn’t help it…one more pic!

Waking up to the World!

WE DID IT!!!

Posted By Jake on December 1, 2010

Well, we have made it home, and for those of you who know me, you know that this post will be colorful, so proceed with caution!  J/K……that really was some experience.  I was right in the middle of EVERYTHING, I must have asked the docs and nurses 50,000 questions because I like to know everything. Bottom line is……birth is a miracle!  People ask all the time why biblical miracles aren’t in today’s time…..I say….have a baby!  Mother nature is AWESOME!  I mean look…..

How does this….

Labor begins...

Turn into this…

What just happened?

Side note, you will see no pictures of Dad during this because he was behind the camera and crying, and we don’t need any evidence of that!  All I can say is my wife was a champ!

Meeting my Momma!

Can you say, “Love at first sight?”  The funny thing is, Stacy was the last person anyone thought would have a baby.  Just let me tell you, her first words to me were, “Ok….I guess we can do this again!”  HOLD THE PHONE!  Let’s see if we can handle this little guy first!

Unconditional Love

The nurses at Baylor Grapevine highly recommended giving us about 30 minutes of alone time to bond with the baby, and during this is when you find out just how obnoxious Grandparents can be!  I bet I have 50 texts from various family members…..Cocoa to name a few…wondering when she can meet her Grandbaby!  Must be payback for all those….”Are we there yet?” questions I asked when I was a kid.  At last, the family was introduced!

Grandpas....I'm terrified to think of the knowledge that will be passed from these two!

Proud Maternal Grandparents....Pigpaw....and we are still working on Grandma's name....but it WON'T be Grandma!

Aunt JORDANA!

Uncle Chef Jeff...."Hey Jordana, we need one of these!!!"

Auntie Stephie

Paternal Grandparents Cocoa & Grumpy w/ Aunt Jordana

Cocoa

P.S.  I put Cocoa’s picture last just to aggravate her because I’m just like her and I know that would annoy me!

Everything went as perfect as we had hoped for, so thank you for all the prayers and support!  Now for the real star of the past few days….

Future Ag!

After my first bath!

I LOVE getting burped...

Watching some tube!

First nap with my favorite Monkey!

Ok that is enough for now….thank you to Stacy’s mom for helping us out at home these first few days!

Grandma's just know what is needed!

AND FINALLY, now that the tears have dried….ONE PROUD PAPA!

One proud Papa!

And one happy new family!

WE DID IT!

Due date? Who needs a stinking due date?

Posted By Stacy on November 22, 2010

Today is November 22, 2010 and this is the day that Wyatt was projected to be here, but as you can see he is warm and happy where he is.  I am not complaining or anything, it is better for him to stay in until he is ready.  I’m trying to keep everyone posted.  We went for a checkup and ultra sound to check fluid levels and movement today and everything was normal.  When the doctor checked for any progress she said nothing has changed, no dilation or anything.  We are setting up an induction date for next week sometime if he does not want to come out yet.   I also went to the chiropractor today to get everything all in alignment to see if that would help.  It was great!  He gave me a killer foot massage.  Anyway, we are still on baby watch and I stay at home.  Oh and yes we are walking and trying things to help him come too.

Test Monkey…….getting ready for go live!

Posted By Jake on November 16, 2010

Sorry for the long delay in posting!  We are busy brewing babies here in the Waldrop household.  With showers complete and thank you notes written, it’s time to test out all the glorious gifts we were so blessed to receive.  Soooooo…..without further ado, we now introduce you to TEST MONKEY!

Test Monkey and friends.

OM Goodness was it entertaining to try and figure out how most/all of this stuff works.  One of the most important aspects of new parenting is learning how to delicately place a baby into a carrier without brain injury.

There is still a smile, we passed!

This next test sounds simple enough……or so we thought!  As you walk through Babies’ R Us, there are about 1 Billion different travel systems to tote your little munchkin around.  Fond memories of picking out towels when we got married came to mind.  For Stacy it was all about color, how they stacked neatly when folded, etc.  For me, it was about absorption and comfort, practicality always wins for me.  As we are strolling down the aisles, Stacy is imagining how her child will look riding in his carrier, and which one will match her outfit of the day.  I on the other hand, took apart every darn one of those things trying to figure out which one was…….yep you guessed it…..most PRACTICAL and easy to use.  Our next test was to snap the above carrier into the stroller.

Ready to Roll!

Now that he is ridin dirty, the next step was to figure out how to install the car seat bases.  Unfortunately, Stacy and I did not capture this experience on film.  Just imagine a four door truck with all the doors open and two asses hanging out, one on each side.  To the casual spectator, it had to be hilarious.  Lord only knows what they heard as Stacy and I were stealing the instructions from one another while instructing each other on how it was to be done.  Good times!

Here are a few other pics of learning how to swaddle, change, and swing!

Snug as a Bug!

Hot towel?....Don't mind if I do!

Weeeeeee!

Lastly, we finally have the nursery in order.  We wish we could do more, but so goes apartment living!

Looks Comfy!

Thank you Stephanie and Audrey!

Time for a change!

Awwww, two bedrooms is not enough

Story Time!

Thanks Cocoa and Aunt Jordana

Piggy Bank and lamp from Pigma!

There you have it, 360 degree counter-clockwise view!  Lastly, one last pic before she pops!  This was about 37 weeks!

Preggopotamus @ 37 Weeks

And thanks for helping us out Test Monkey, you earned your spot on the W!

W is for Wyatt!

Next post coming to you shortly!  It will be to introduce you to our LITTLE BUDDY!  No signs of labor yet, we are due on Monday!

Wyatt’s New Picture 10/14/10

Posted By Stacy on October 15, 2010

Yesterday we went to the doctor for out 34 week check up.  He is coming soon!   We rechecked my placenta and everything is checking out normal and we also got a good picture of his chunky looking face.  He is going to look like his dad I am thinking.  While we were trying to get this pic he yawned and was blinking at us, yes I said blinking, that was crazy.  You can see his eye lids are half open, nose and mouth in this pic.  :))

34 weeks

We are leaving to go see my family one more time before I cant leave the area.  This weekend we are going to the Rockdale Fair.  Not going to lie I am excited to see everyone.  Good luck to all of the kid showing.

Wyatt’s Shower in Houston and Southlake Reunion.

Posted By Stacy on October 11, 2010

We have the best friends ever! Thanks everyone for opening your homes and giving us such a great shower and places to hang out to see everyone.  We got several great gifts and our stroller…. I am very excited about that!  When we got home we took it out and had to play with it.  It is funny how Jake is getting excited and ready for Wyatt to come.  He is practicing playing guitar and learning nursery rhymes to teach him. :)  Here are a few pics for the shower.  I was very impressed how well everything matched the theme.

Me and Amanda

This past weekend was so much fun seeing all of our friends at Jake’s 10 year reunion.  We are both super tired from it all.  Friday we went to the Gregory’s for a small party then out to Jack’s Porch.  I chauffeured to the bar and home, I made it until 11:30, that was good.  Then Saturday the Aggie’s played.  A group of us went to Peace Burger to watch it and even baby Jay came for a while, but as babies do, they get fussy and tired so Courtney had to leave.  The game was not so great and seemed to go on forever.  We came home for a quick power nap and away we go again.  We went to Yucatan Taco Stand for dinner with the rest of his classmates.    I had a good time but it kind gets old telling the same story over, “We are due November 22, its a boy and his name is Wyatt. ” over and over again.  I really hate to repeat myself that much.  So I went and hung out with Brooke and Matt on the patio, we had a great time people watching.

Sunday still going.  Jake and Jeff went to the Cowboy’s game, but made a couple of pitstops before.  They left at 11ish to go have lunch at the “best” Hooters in Arlington and then they got 3rd base line seats, 20 rows up behind the dugout to the Rangers game.  It was late in the game so they got a deal from some guy on the street.  But the Rangers lost and so did the Cowboys; however, they got some male bonding done.  As for me I got some female bonding done with Jordan.  We went to the Fair and ate ourselves silly with everything fried.  We left around 11 and then waited in line after line, but it was so worth it.  Our first stop was for Texas Fried Frito pie, it was good.  At the same stand I got a fried truffle, but it was a flop.  We then found some of Jordan’s friends and continued our adventure of things fried. We then made our way around the Cotton Bowl to see Big Tex and get a corn dog, but the line was way too long.  We pushed over near the Midway, and I was tired, so we had to stop and try some deep fried s’mores pop tart……now those were something else.  It was chocolaty crispy goodness!  As we passed the Ferris wheel, I thought  it doesn’t seem that big, but then we found a corn dog stand with a short line.  Mmmm fair corn dogs are the best.  By this time we are all starting to get full and hot and tired, so we went into the green house to cool off and see the pumpkin carver, he was cool.  I forgot to take pics.  You cant go to the fair with out seeing the livestock as well, so we went in the petting zoo type thing.  They had normal thing like goats, pigs, chickens and min horses, but then they had giraffes, camels, zebras, yaks, and a ton more exotic animals.  By this time its getting late and we have to get 3 more things on our list.  Jordan got a turkey leg that was depressing it was so bad and I was on the hunt for cotton candy and salt water taffy.  All in all, it was a good day.

Wyatt has a bed now…

Posted By Stacy on September 29, 2010

Monday night, Jake took on the task of putting the crib together.  He started at 7:55 and asked, “Is this something I have to finish before going to sleep?”, to which I replied, “no,” while thinking to myself if it’s not done I will just finish it tomorrow while he is gone.  By 8:45 it was finished, not too big of a challenge.  The hardest part is arranging the room to make it all fit.  If you don’t know we are in a 2 bedroom apartment  now, with Wyatt’s things and a queen size bedroom suit in the second bedroom.  I think I have it the way I want it as of last night.  Now I just need to organize all of Wyatt’s things in to drawers.  This morning I was going to start washing his bedding and discovered that I did not buy the high efficiency detergent, so back to the store I shall go to get another bottle……dang.

This past weekend I had the first baby shower put on by my family in Cameron.  It was great to see everyone and for them to see that I am really getting big.  We got lots of belly pats, which I must say I am getting used to, except for when Stephanie grabs me and giggles at him to wake him up.  We received a lot of great useful gifts and a ton of books to read.  Jake is picking some up to read now, he tells me he is just reading them now and working on the voices for Wyatt.

Wyatt is growing more and more.  It is getting harder to complete tasks alone.  I went grocery shopping yesterday, it took so much longer than I thought.  I did not make a list, and I have a very hard time trying to remember things now.  Our birthing instructor said this happens because when the baby grows they use a lot of folic acid.  Maybe I need to take some extra.  Also, when we were arranging his room just taking empty drawers out of the dressers was hard.  I waited until Jake got home to put them all back up.  I have to eat smaller meals because I have very little room to put it in my stomach.  I made some very good buffalo chile last night and then proceeded to eat two bowels, not a good idea.  Bubba got an extra long walk before I went to bed.  But it was worth it, that was some good chile!  I am also starting to feel what I think is his foot pushing out sometimes.  Brent and Stephanie got a kick out of it, but mom and dad were in bed every time he would get going.

This week I am working on and off again on Thank You letters.  I have not had to write much of anything in a long time there for I get cramps in my hand.  I almost wish that I could e-mail them but that would not be very personal.  Becca and Vin are coming from Sugar Land on Friday to go to the Texas vs. OU game. I’m excited to see them and have people over, but I must get the room done.  They give me a deadline to work towards.  We are then going down to Houston Saturday morning to another shower put on by friends, and I am very excited to see everyone!  Oh and by the way I have finished the cover of Wyatt’s scrapbook the picture will follow.  On Thursday I go see my Doctor for my two week check up and then we are cooking out for the Aggie game with Jeff.  Jeff is a friend of Jake’s from fish camp that lives in our complex, small world.

One last note, baby gear is hard to put up and take down, even if you read the directions.  I put the pack and play up, just to look at it and then I had 4 pipe pieces left so I posted on Facebook for help.  Then here they come the moms to the rescue.  After I put the last parts in I had to take it down, that was harder!  I started it and then I called in for reinforcements.  We had to reread the instructions 2 times before we got it.  Then getting it in to the travel bag, good luck with that, please zipper never break.

Classes???

Posted By Stacy on September 9, 2010

Hello everyone,

We have started our Prepared Childbirth class this week, and let me tell you Jake is very excited!  We are learning some good techniques to help with some of the uncomfortable moments that I am having now.  Yes we are learning breathing also.  It has helped me to learn what things I need to do before going to the hospital like, preregistering.  Who knew that you need to do that?

Our last appointment was last Thursday and we were very happy to learn that my placenta had moved up like we hoped.  A little back track, my placenta was low laying, but not covering the cervix so we needed to monitor it to see if it moved up.  If it was not moving up or went down then I would have to be on bed rest.  Otherwise this little man is going crazy flipping and kicking around.

I have also taken on the challenge of making Wyatt’s baby book.  I have never scrap booked a day in my life, so it should be interesting.  I have the cover planned and sketches made (thanks to Mara!), and  now I am starting to get the fabrics and buttons to cut the zoo animals out of.  This will be a work in progress over his first year.  So we will see.  :)

Here is the latest picture of me and my belly taken on 9/5/10
